These are an item rewarded from completing world events in Grotte de Zaralek. They have two uses: you can convert them into Babiole recherchée from Spinsoa, which are used to buy cosmetic items from Saccratros, or you can purchase chests containing Fragment d’écu d’ombreflamme de Dragonnet or Fragment d’écu d’ombreflamme de Drake from Spinsoa.
Fragment d’écu d’ombreflamme de Dragonnet is required for upgrading items that are between item level 402 and 411 (Adventurer rank 5/8 to 8/8 and Veteran rank 1/8 to 4/8). Fragment d’écu d’ombreflamme de Drake is required for upgrading items that are between item levels 415 and 424 (Veteran 5/8 to 8/8 and Champion 1/8 to 4/8). The chests which award these fragments are limited to one purchase of each chest per week, totalling 30 of each fragment, and are limited by the overall weekly cap of each shadowflame crest fragments (150 fragments for week 1, 300 fragments for week 2, etc.).

Got to 50 early a day ago, none since. The random events stopped showing up and I hardly see any chests or they only contain the other 4 rep tokens. So I guess these and the Barter Bricks are not fully available? Or there is some reason behind this?

You want to consider if you want to use these on gear upgrades or 2 mounts and 1 pet.

Quess it's a preference. But you can say that the Fragment d’écu d’ombreflamme de Dragonnet & Fragment d’écu d’ombreflamme de Drake can be farmed it other ways. Or there is other ways to get gear on. But the Pièce déterrée odorante/Babiole recherchée is the only way to get the mounts/pet.

It seems a cluster of events reset daily (fresh characters can do them all), yesterday I could do all the ones around Loamm again, today I could do the 3 at Aberrus Approach again.

It seems that the easiest way to farm these, is The Researches under fire event that became available with DF Season 2, especially if you have alts.

Epic caches drop 60x Pièce déterrée odorante and blue caches drop 45x Pièce déterrée odorante per event. I personally brute farmed this on day 1 when the event became available, and it took no more of 2 hours worth of playtime to gather enough coins to buy the two mounts.

As of 10.2.0, Spinsoa only exchanges these for Babiole recherchée.

What exactly is the point of a soulbound currency that can only be exchanged into an accountbound currency?
And why isn't this (or the accountbound currency) going to the currency tab.

Accoundwide currencies are possible AND working,
They already did it with trading post tenders!
